  • How should Christians act?

I am thinking about this a lot...

How should Christians truly act? What kind of words should they share with others?

If one opposes you or says things about you that are untrue, how should you act?

I know I have a quite few posts opposing christmas and halloween, along with easter.

I celebrate the BIRTH of Jesus- NOT  christmas santa

I celebrate the RISING of Jesus-NOT the easter bunny.

I celebrate the LIFE of Jesus- Not DEATH that halloween glorifies

I'm not jehovahs witness or of any religion in this world. I am a simple Christian believer who believes in God and the holy bible, especially KJV.

Even within my opposition towards these secular holidays, I still try to share the love of Christ and why we should walk with him.  He is LIFE. Without him, we don't know LOVE.

I hope you have a blessed weekend with Jesus---knowing he has risen and beat our sins---so that we may live a life filled with HOPE and JOY.

    Love Julie Ann

Good noon! I'm out of town at this moment (and yet checking out blogs!) and don't have my Bible handy- there was a sermon at my church recently about some of the topics you mentioned. I have notes of some good verses at home. But the gist of it is that the Bible says for us Christians to live in such a way that our reputation or character will not be tainted, so that when other people hear things about you, they will not believe it.

To answer your question, how one should act when you know that someone says untrue things about you- it depends on whether that person is a close friend, co-worker, etc.  If it's possible, you could go up to the person and say you've heard what he/she said about you, and if they indeed did say those things, you tell him/her that you forgive them. Turn the other cheek. Maybe it's easier said than done? In Jesus' time, many people spread lies about him, and Jesus just kept going on with his own business. The truth will always prevail, eventually.

What does Halloween have to do with Jesus?

Easter and Christmas are just holidays made up by Christians to obscure the real meanings of the old Pagan traditions.

I know quite a few people who celebrate Reformation Day at the end of October.

I do find it a bit amusing when people frame that Christians misrepresent pagan holidays, when in fact many of the holidays they claim we misrepresent were when Christians started holding counter celebrations to the pagan holidays that obscured their meaningless holidays. How many people still celebrate winter solstice? How many people celebrate the goddess of fertility and spring? Looks like the counter celebrations were pretty successful in the end and the pagans really didnt have too much to celebrate after all. We have a few friends that do not celebrate any Christian holidays, and one pastor I know well who never does any thematic sermons. Of course, normally study us this will almost inevitably lead us to the time of Constantine where the argument surfaces were those the best of times or the worst of times for the church. I normaly posit the worst........but there is wide disparity of thought on that.

In answer to your one question I think that Romans 12 gives us a good indication, but I would equally posit that identifying with who we are in Christ covenantly would radically affect our actions-not for reasons of justification but for reasons of love/respect. ONce we realize who we are in Him, it breeds change and not the legalistic type, a true change of heart and outlook on life and sevice in the Kingdom.

I am still looking for what we stole from the pagans in demarcating time--that little thing known as  BC and AD.

Happy Resurrection Day to you and yours.

@gottobereal64 -  A lot of Christians believe it is okay to celebrate Halloween.
